SKETCH SCOTLAND in 2025
https://www.tracelesstours.com
When: September 7-14, 2025
Got to traceless tours.com under special interest tours for details.
With sketchbooks in hand, we will quiet our minds and open our eyes to the beauty of Fall in Scotland. Whether sitting in a cafe, or taking in the beauty of the countryside, visiting ancient castles and ruins, our approach to art-making will be one of curiosity and fun—and taking time to “See” with our pencils and paintbrushes. Georgia O’Keeffe remarked that “no one sees a flower because we haven’t the time, and to see takes time.” During this excursion, we can be mindful as we sketch, paint, write what personally compels us, engaging with our surroundings as participants, not simply tourists. There are no prerequisites for this course other than an open mind and heart. No experience? No problem! All levels of art experience are welcome! The pace will be relaxed, with daily prompts for sketching our surroundings in letters lines and images.
Informal class instruction will include introduction to sketching and watercolor painting, focused on integrating sketching/drawing and watercolor painting with handwriting and informal calligraphy. Participants will have the opportunity to meet ahead of the trip in an online zoom class to go over tools, materials and some simple “getting started” art exercises. Whatever one’s level of experience, we can create beauty on the page with a few simple techniques. A visual journal will be portal for discovering your own artistic voice while taking in the beauty of Scotland
My classes emphasize process over product, skill-building and an integrated approach to learning art. This includes mindfulness, body awareness, self-support.
In addition to teaching workshops across the USA, Canada and Europe, I conduct ongoing classes through my private studio.
My daily fee (2017) for workshops is $750, plus travel expenses, room and board.
